You click a number in the dashboard and see the query it came from. You open the animation and change a word. That is what ties together Claude's two new tools of 8 October, and Anthropic's announcement says it plainly: Claude makes the first version, you decide what gets shared.
Fact
The facts: on 8 October 2026 Anthropic announced that Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion are in beta, and that Docs, Slides and Design are out of beta and on every plan, including Free. Dashboards connects to a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks or Snowflake, or to other connectors such as Salesforce, builds a dashboard from a plain-language question and keeps it current as the data changes; every number shows the query behind it, and every chart shows when its data was last refreshed. It is in beta on paid plans. A dashboard can be sent to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma, with Looker, monday.com and Tableau announced as coming soon. Motion turns a prompt into a short animation that plays like a video, can be edited and downloads as MP4; Claude writes code that animates text, charts, shapes and images, and in Anthropic's words no video generation model is used, so there is no generated footage and no AI-generated people. Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise; an explainer opens in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI and Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon. Runway confirmed the same day that it is a launch partner. According to Anthropic, more than 45 million docs, decks and designs have been made in Claude. What is new for them: CMEK for artifacts, a team and Claude working on the same file, sharing outside the organization if the admin allows it, exports to PowerPoint and PDF, decks straight to Google Slides and editing from the phone. The standalone site claude.ai/design stays up until 14 December; chats with Claude and comments there do not carry over, and public links to the projects stop working then. In Enterprise, Dashboards and Motion are off by default, while Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default on 15 October.
Motion is the more interesting of the two because of one sentence in the announcement: it uses no video generation model. No generated footage, no generated people. Claude writes code that moves your text, your charts, shapes and images, so every word, number and timing stays fixable.
The last fix to a presentation clip always comes minutes before the room fills up: a wrong number, an old logo, a misspelled name. When the clip is a finished video file, that means a new render and frayed nerves. When it is code, you fix one word.
The animation is code. You fix a word, not a frame.
Dashboards is for quick questions, like this week's signups against last month's. For deeper analysis Anthropic itself suggests sending the dashboard on to tools like Grafana, Mixpanel or Sigma. So Dashboards works alongside the analytics system you already have, and does not replace it.
Watch who gets what. Free gets Docs, Slides and Design, now without the beta label. Dashboards is for paid plans, Motion only for Team and Enterprise. The announcement has no prices, and no date for when the betas become generally available. Enterprise admins have a closer deadline: on 15 October Docs, Slides and Design turn on by themselves, unless they were turned on earlier.
If you have worked in claude.ai/design, there is a deadline there: 14 December. Design systems migrate with one button, and projects keep working until it closes, but chats with Claude and comments stay on the old site and disappear with it, along with the public links. Save what you need while the old site still works.
